I had so much fun last week demoing our entire laundry room! Definitely threw some curveballs my way but I always love learning new skills. My approach to this renovation was to take the room to bare bones. We’re starting fresh! After selling our washer and dryer, we ordered this set from Home Depot. New appliances are super exciting purchases as an adult. It’s currently sitting in our dining room… it’s going to have to get comfortable in there for a few more weeks! I’ll let you guys know how we like it after using it regularly.
Once the appliances were out, I got to work! I honestly enjoy demo. It’s fun knowing that it’s okay if you mess up because that’s literally all you’re doing… wrecking things! That being said, I did try to preserve as much as possible. There are a few things I’d like to repurpose or gift to family so I wanted to leave most things unharmed. As for the baseboards and old flooring, bye! Definitely won’t be missed! Have you guys ever removed baseboards? I created a reel to share just how easy it is with the proper tools. Putting new ones in, however, isn’t as fun. We will get to that eventually but one step at a time. After removing the baseboards, I was pleased to find out that linoleum flooring isn’t too difficult to remove! It did however leave A LOT of mess for me to scrap up. After a lot of elbow grease, the floor is finally ready for tile. I am so excited to be installing Jeffery Court’s Basalt Gray tile. I am having a hard time deciding what layout to choose. Would you do herringbone or crosshatch?
After clearing out the space, my first DIY happened! I am a sucker for ceiling accents so after removing our old light fixture and noticing damage to the ceiling, I decided to cover it in wooden planks. Don’t be mad BUT I did decide to paint instead of stain. I really wanted to brighten up the space since I will have some darken accents. Wagner’s Flexio 3500 spray paint gun made the process painless. I choose BEHR’s Bit of Sugar to brighten everything up. It is such a nice white.
Up next is cabinets and wall tile! I have been so excited about this part of the process.
